Direct report - Explosion of the Hunga Tonga volcano. Tsunami waves across the Pacific from South America to California and Japan

Tsunami waves related to the Hunga Tonga volcano explosion have spread across the Pacific.

THE SHOCK WAVE TRAVELED ALL OVER THE PLANET - The explosion released an enormous amount of energy that spread in a ring throughout the globe. The shock wave in free air traveled with a speed close to that of sound, about 1000km / h, causing in addition to the acoustic effect (bang sonito) felt up to a thousand kilometers away also a pressure effect that caused the barometers of the whole planet of some HPA upwards and recorded by all the control units:

THE ERUPTIVE CLOUD HAS REACHED THE STRATOSPHERE -  The cloud of the eruptive column went up to 40km in height , well beyond the troposphere and also entering the stratosphere, producing over 200,000 lightning strikes in 24 hours ! It was since the time of Monte Pinatubo in 199 1 that an eruption of such power had not been seen.

THE TSUNAMI -  Tsunami waves  caused by volcanic explosions are very different from those resulting from submarine earthquakes. They have a short length (from a few tens to a hundred meters), but they can be very high. They are essentially huge "Cavalloni". In jargon they are called " Solitons " precisely because of an anomalous and solitary nature. It is estimated that in the terrible Krakatoa explosion of 1883 which killed over 35,000 people, the tsunami waves reached a height of 30 meters . The only advantage in this type of tsunami is that the water wall is unable to advance much inland so the greatest damage occurs near the coast line such as a gigantic storm., not only the southern one where the eruption occurred but also the central one and part of the northern one was crossed by the tsunami wave with tangible effects. The buoys throughout the sector recorded sudden differences in height from a few tens of centimeters up to a few meters with a maximum ceiling of 2.5 meters. The waves hit the coasts of the neighboring island of Tonga, South America, California and Chile. Significant damage , not serious and a lot of fear fortunately without any injuries or victims reported. The ominous sound of the warning sirens warned all residents to keep well away from the coast. Nonetheless, in some areas, people found themselves unprepared:

The activity of the volcano began around December 20 in a rather quiet way, then at the beginning of January a series of explosions affected the area and finally the paroxysm of today January 15 shook the entire Pacific.
